Q: Jumping Genres: Ever pick up a book from a genre you usually
don’t like and LOVE it? Tell us about it and why you picked it up in the
first place.
I don't know if this really counts, but I used to never, ever read young adult. Ever. I didn't read it when I was a teen. I picked up Rachel Vincent's Soul Screamers series because at the time, I really loved her adult series. It's safe to say it worked out well, because these days I read YA pretty regularly.
Oh, I haven't read Soul Screamers, but I've spent an awful lot of time admiring the amazing covers so it's just a matter of time!

Hopping through. I've always read a lot of YA, but it skyrocketed when I read Twilight.

I'm the opposite to you. I've always read YA and was never into the adult genre (but that's changed now). But yes, I absolutely love Rachel Vincent. She's a brilliant writer! Love every single book from her! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not much into YA, I didnt read it when I was a teen either. I can read it more then I used to but it's still not my fav.

Paranormal Romance
I'm the opposite, I've always read YA novels and never any adult books, but since last year, I started reading adult novels, but the majority of the books I read are YA, because I've only been an adult for a few months, so i'm still a teenager at heart (I'm 18.5 years old).
ReplyDeleteI just started reading the Soul Screamers series this week. I read the My Soul to Lose novella and liked it and now I'm reading the first book My Soul to Take (I'm reading them from the first bind up).
I love the covers and I heard so many good things about this series.

When I first picked up YA, it was a bit too immature for me. I don't know, maybe because there wasn't any nookie like in my PNR/UF books? LOL. But I'm glad I kept going because there are great YA's out there. Now I read everything and anything lol.
